Days Four, Five, and Six

Because I've not been able to update every day.

Day four: 778. Yay!

Day five: 385. Still respectable.

Day six: 452. Not bad.

My total wordcount now is 38,400ish. (I'm on a different computer.) Think I can hit 40k today? I do.

I just came upon your blog and I found it quite interesting. I also am writing a book and my current word count is 40,696. However, I've hit a standstill. I'm not sure if it is writer's block, or if I've written everything I wanted to capture. But my biggest conundrum is this: what do I do with all of these words once I AM finished. I've never published anything before and I have no idea what the next step is! Good luck with your writing.

Hi, Alix! Thanks for dropping by.

As for writing...let me just say that forty thousand words is an amazing achievement. No, seriously, it is. It's something I've achieved exactly twice before, and one of those (the NaNo that my current work is based on) I ended up not being able to use.

If you can, my advice would be to try and bring the story to an ending point, then read back through it. Think about it. Take notes. Is that really all you wanted to say? Is there more that you just couldn't think of? Does it seem complete? Incomplete?

Once the story's done, the next step is revision and lots of it. You can do quite a bit of that yourself, but later on it's quite useful to have another pair of eyes.

Thanks for the well-wishes! Good luck to you as well.
